Model Matters: Q&A with a Life Model - TOM

How did you start life modelling?
I fell into the world of modelling by chance. I saw a ‘casting call’ requiring models for a photography group who were happy to work nude. The other requirement was to be local as travel wasn’t covered, I was bored at that time and thought I’d give it a go. A few weeks later I was asked to come in for a test photoshoot, not long after arriving, I was nude in front of the camera! surprisingly I didn’t feel awkward about it at all.
From there, a conversation started about life modelling, I mentioned that I had never done it. Well, that led to me being contacted to do a life modelling job, and from then on I’ve done countless life modelling jobs.
Why do you enjoy it?
It all depends on the group.  I feel I can go into a meditative state with the quiet, more concentrated groups, I use this time to clear my head.
Other groups are more chatty, which adds and air of  enjoyment to the party so time flies!  Even 1 hour long poses I can do in one sitting, I’m often surprised at how quick it goes!
Funniest experience?
It is often the surprise reveal of the nude life model to the hen!!!
One other funny moment for me (sort of) was when I was asked to model in an upstairs room that was usually used for events... For the last pose, I was asked if I could stand on a block to give extra height. It was only after I had finished, I realised that the restaurant opposite had an upstairs area too, and quite probably could have seen me from my hips upwards - thankfully I was facing away from the windows, hopefully no one saw my buttocks!
